Online platform “coconogacco foundation” launched.

"Unraveling the history of fashion from various perspectives"

Since its opening in 2008, more than 1,000 students have taken courses at coconogacco, a school for learning the essence of fashion while facing the world and the origins of their own fashion. Since its opening in 2008, more than 1,000 students have taken courses at the school, many of whom have gone on to work as designers and artists, and in a variety of other fields.

The “coconogacco foundation” was established with the aim of connecting people of all ages, including graduates, current students, and those who want to learn fashion in the future, to deepen mutual learning and to create a “foudantion (foundation)” for the future of fashion. The first step is to look at the history of fashion from a variety of perspectives.

First, we will deliver a class that explores the future of fashion together by unraveling the history of fashion from various perspectives. In addition, we will also provide online contents that showcase the classes being held at coconogacco and the activities of the students. The content will be understandable to teenagers interested in fashion, so there is no need for prerequisite specialized knowledge. Anyone is welcome to participate.

The first program, titled “Exploring the History of Japanese Fashion,” will feature guests Yayoi Motohashi, curator of “Fashion in Japan 1945-2020: Fashion and Society,” currently on view at the National Art Center, Tokyo, Natsu Onodera, and designer Akiko Aoki, who is also participating in the exhibition. Designers Akiko Aoki and Keisuke Yoshida, and host Yoshikazu Yamagata, will explore the history of Japanese fashion from prewar, wartime, and postwar to contemporary attire.

<Qualifications and Methods of Participation>
Anyone can join the coconogacco foundation. Courses are offered on a monthly basis. Enrollment is welcome at any time.Not only current coconogacco students, but also graduates and supporters of coconogacco are eligible to join. Of course, those who want to learn about fashion are also welcome to join.
